PHS Tree Tenders: Spring 2022 Bare Root Tree Offer – Feb 10
Posted by Pennsylvania Horticultural Society on January 18, 2022
We are excited to announce that the Bare Root Tree Planting Offer for the PHS Tree Tenders-TreeVitalize April 2022 tree planting season is now open! We invite your community to apply.
Applications are due: February 10, 2022
Place your order early if requesting species with limited availability. Orders will be fulfilled in the order received.
About the offer:
- We have a diverse selection of 25 species for you to pick from this season! View and print the species list here.
- Subsidized trees must be planted as public amenities in areas along street curbs, within parks or other public properties, or within ~10 feet of the sidewalk/street on private properties.
- At the wholesale $95 rate, trees can be purchased for planting in the interior of private yards (planted more than 10 feet from the sidewalk/curb, or in backyard), but planting must be overseen by your group.
- 36″ TreeDiapers® are available to buy at a deeply discounted rate. The TreeDiaper is a slow release hydration system that is automatically recharged with rain/irrigation. They have been used on a few Tree Tenders projects and found to be effective, especially for locations that are difficult to water. They last about 3 years, or possibly longer if well protected from sun and lawn mowers.
- On planting day, community volunteers (and any municipal staff working alongside volunteers) eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine are required to be fully vaccinated.
- More details in the application.
Dates/Location:
Trees will arrive April 19 and tree pickup will be April 19-22, 2022 and is tentatively planned for the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Your community tree planting can be scheduled anytime during April 20-25.
