Webinar: AmeriCorps Resources For Communities in Pennsylvania – Jan 11
Posted by PennSERVE on January 11, 2022
Join PennSERVE, AmeriCorps NCCC, and the Mid-Atlantic AmeriCorps Regional Office on January 11, 2022, to learn how you can partner with AmeriCorps to get things done in your community!
AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that each take a different approach to improve lives and foster civic engagement. AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters, and more. In this one hour session, you’ll get an overview of the different AmeriCorps programs and find the best fit for your community.
PennSERVE provides AmeriCorps State grants, supporting organizations as they recruit, place, and supervise AmeriCorps members in meeting local community needs. Each year, PennSERVE awards approximately $12 million in federal funding to AmeriCorps programs. Through funding and support, PennSERVE engages Pennsylvania residents in strengthening our communities.
AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) is a full-time, team-based residential service program for 18-26 year-olds. AmeriCorps members travel the country completing service projects 3-13 weeks in duration. Teams live in the communities they serve to better understand the culture, participate in service-learning, and build leadership and life skills.
AmeriCorps VISTA members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project, building the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.
AmeriCorps Seniors engages Americans 55 years and older in service through three signature programs: the Foster Grandparent Program, RSVP, and the Senior Companion program. AmeriCorps Seniors mentor and guide students, provide assistance and friendship to older adults, and serve in a variety of volunteer activities.
