Spencer Foundation Invites Applications for Small Education Research Projects
The Spencer Foundation aims to investigate ways in which education, broadly conceived, can be improved around the world. The foundation believes research is integral to improving education, making education systems more equitable, and increasing opportunities to learn across the lifespan.
To that end, the foundation invites applications for its Small Research Grants Program, which will support education research projects with budgets of $50,000 or less that are not longer than five years in duration.
Historically, grants have supported research projects on a range of topics and disciplines such as education, philosophy, neuroscience, psychology, sociology, law, economics, history, and anthropology. In addition, the foundation encourages methodological diversity in answering pressing questions and is open to projects that employ a wide array of research methods including quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, ethnographies, design-based research, participatory methods, and historical research.
To be eligible, principal investigators and Co-PIs must have earned a doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field, or demonstrate appropriate experience in an education research-related profession. In addition, PIs must be affiliated with a college, university, school district, nonprofit research facility, or nonprofit cultural institution that is willing to serve as the administering organization if the grant is awarded.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Spencer Foundation website.
Deadline: December 1, 2021
