CALL FOR PROPOSALS: NCCC Pathways to Achieving Civic Engagement (PACE) Conference, February 9, 2022, High Point University, High Point, North Carolina (in-person)
Proposal deadline: November 10, 2021
Registration opens: November 15, 2021

The annual PACE conference, now in its 25th year, is for faculty, staff, researchers, community partners, and graduate students who want to gain skills, knowledge and best practice models for a spectrum of community and civic engagement pedagogies and practices.  PACE is the oldest and largest conference focused on higher education service-learning and community engagement in the Southeast.

We are seeking 60-minute workshop proposals in the following tracks: Capacity-building, Pedagogy, Research and Theory, Community Partnership Development and Sustainability, and Dialogue & Civil Discourse. The 2022 special track is “Virtual Engagement.”

We also offer a mini-session format which includes two-20 minute presentations on the same topic, in a one-hour workshop block. We are seeking proposals on any of the following topics:

  1. Sustainability & Climate Change
  2. Civic & Political Engagement
  3. Creating and Sustaining an Engaged Campus
  4. Equity and Inclusion
  5. Empowering Students as Colleagues
  6. Civil Dialogue/Discourse and/or Information Literacy

The 2022 keynote speaker is Eric Liu, CEO of Citizen University. He is one of the country’s most sought after speakers on citizen power, civic health, the future of democracy and American identity. Liu is a former White House speech writer and Deputy Domestic Policy advisor, director of the Aspen Institute’s Citizenship and American Identity program, correspondent at the Atlantic.com and a prolific writer. His latest publication is Become America: Civic Sermons on Love, Responsibility, and Democracy.
