MJCSL Special Issue: Centering Social Justice in the Scholarship of Community Engagement
Posted by Ginsberg Center on October 12, 2021
The editors of the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning (MJCSL), published by the Ginsberg Center, are thrilled to announce the release of an exciting special issue: “Centering Social Justice in the Scholarship of Community Engagement.” The special issue is the result of a collaboration between the Ginsberg Center and the National Center for Institutional Diversity and is guest edited by Tabbye Chavous and Tania Mitchell.
Each article in the issue offers new insight into how scholars and practitioners of community engagement can design, implement, and evaluate their partnerships through a social justice lens. In addition, each illuminates the experiences and perspectives of engaged scholars and their community partners through self-reflective writing.
We strive to publish high-quality scholarship that moves the field towards more inclusive, equitable, and critical practices. We are constantly working to evaluate our own editorial practices and seek innovative ways to promote the value of well-designed community and civic engagement in higher education.
