The Director of Board Initiatives will oversee the development and implementation of all Board of Education (Board) Initiatives. These will include supporting Board committees, strategic projects, and other initiatives as they arise. The Director of Board Initiatives will support the Board through the creation of short and long-term plans that embrace innovation. Assists the Board with outlining the timeline for the execution of Board Initiatives, works with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate understanding and support of Board initiatives, and monitors and evaluates programmatic activities to ensure that identified objectives are being met in accordance with Board goals. Provides direction and management to Board staff that support the core functions and responsibilities of the Board.
Essential Functions
- Oversees all activities pertaining to the implementation of Board initiatives; assists the Board in developing and establishing short and long-range goals.
- As appropriate, directs and manages staff engaged in the development, implementation and facilitation of Board initiatives and special projects in alignment with Board priorities.
- Determines, defines and outlines procedures for achieving the goals and objectives of Board initiatives; manages available resources and coordinates all activities to ensure the timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Oversees and directs the activities of staff; plans and coordinates daily operations.
- Manages and tracks requests for information, tasks and follow-up to Board agenda items; coordinates and provides response to requests from the Board, Office of the Superintendent, executive committee members and members of the public.
- Assists the Board by conducting research and analysis of information prior to approval and implementation; presents analyses and evaluations of current and proposed practices and policies of the District.
- Develops and builds good communications and relationships between members of the Board of Education and staff of central offices, external partners and the public at large in support of Board initiatives.
- Works collaboratively with staff of the Board of Education and District.
- Maintains direct responsibility for initiatives budgets; controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established limitations.
- Directs contract external negotiation and/or preparation when necessary.
- Prepares reports related to project status and projections.
- Participates in organizational planning with the Governing Body.
- Assists in various Office of the Board of Education special projects when needed.
- Collaborates with managers of committee initiatives to define performance goals, set targets, and develop project timelines and milestones to help reach performance goals.
