Job Summary

Dr. Njoroge’s research involves a particular focus on infants, very young children and their mothers because this research area offers a rich opportunity to identify parenting stressors, parental attitudes and beliefs, cultural norms, and impact of racism that may derail optimal development in populations often marginalized. Past research includes investigating impact of culture on early infant/childhood development, impact of screening and brief interventions on infant and parent psychosocial domains, and the intersection of culture, race, and ethnicity on parenting practices.  All of these research efforts are within a diverse, multidisciplinary team approach. Current efforts include addressing knowledge gaps in the literature, by investigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and children, coupled with characterization of the persistent trauma of racism and the syndemic experienced by Black families by leveraging an existing longitudinal cohort of racially diverse women, who were recruited while pregnant at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and following these women and children.

The open position will involve work in these and related areas with a particular focus on the intersection of race, behavioral health, development, and parenting practices.  The ideal candidate will be interested in health equity research and the intersection of race/ethnicity, behavioral health, and early development. The candidate will be expected to interact fluently and culturally appropriately with diverse populations that will be recruited for all studies.

The ideal candidate will posses database skills-uploading data, QC, and retrieving data.
