Cigna Foundation Launches New Grant Program to Address Social Determinants of Health
The Cigna Foundation has announced a new Education and Workforce development grant opportunity and will begin accepting applications later this month. The program is part of the foundation’s ongoing focus on addressing the social determinants of health and achieving greater health outcomes overall.
Education and workforce development grants will support students enrolled in pre-K, grades K-8, and high school, as well as postsecondary and adult education. The foundation will also provide support to nonprofits that provide programming designed to increase the cultural competency of healthcare professionals by helping them better understand and address health disparities among vulnerable populations.
The foundation is looking for qualified nonprofits with pre-K programs focused on improving the cognitive and social development of children and boosting their language, literacy, and math and science abilities; K-8 programs focused on helping students excel in language, literacy, and STEM subjects; high school programs focused on introducing students to careers in health care, supporting them through successful graduation, and helping them further their education in preparation for a job in health care; and postsecondary and adult education programs that support adults in health-related jobs.
Nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for grants starting May 24. The grant application period will close June 18. Additional opportunities to apply to the program will be available in 2022.
For additional updates and/or to access the application form, visit the Cigna Foundation website.
Deadline: June 18, 2021
