Webinar for Educators: Extra Life: Examining Medical Innovations & Inequities – May 13

Posted by Pulitzer Center on May 11, 2021

A century ago, global life expectancy was in the mid-30s. Today, just a hundred years later, it is in the 70s. In Extra Life, bestselling author Steven Johnson reflects on the many innovations in technology, community organizing, policy, and medicine that have led to increased global life expectancy over the last century. The project includes a book, a TV series on PBS, and a special issue of The New York Times Magazine.

Join us in exploring this illuminating deep dive into the underreported stories of medical breakthroughs, advances, and inequities that compose the modern history of human life expectancy. We are thrilled to share curricular resources for bringing this project into your classroom, and a webinar for educators with Steven Johnson where we’ll discuss the origins of Extra Life and how educators can utilize this project as a lens for grappling with COVID-19 in the classroom.

Date and Time of Webinar: May 13, 2021, 5:00-6:00 PM
