Summer Survey for Out of School Time and Extracurricular Organizations – Apr 30
Posted by Greater Philadelphia Extracurricular Collaborative on April 20, 2021
This summer is a critical time for providers, educators, advocates and stakeholders to come together to do something big to address the academic, social, and emotional losses children in Philadelphia have endured over the last year. By giving children access to summer programming that speaks to their needs and interests, the work of out-of-school time providers and extracurricular practitioners is essential to re-engaging students in learning and reconnecting them to their school communities.
On April 8, 2021 the School District of Philadelphia and City’s Office of Children & Families unveiled a plan they hope will engage thousands of youth in academic support and enrichment programming with the help of City-contracted out-of-school time providers.
To complement the City and District’s plans, the Greater Philadelphia Extracurricular Collaborative (GPEC) is partnering with Mark Gleason, executive director of Philadelphia School Partnership (PSP), and Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) to help connect out-of-school time and extracurricular providers with non-School District of Philadelphia-run schools (e.g. charter, parochial, and independent schools) to create additional opportunities for children this summer.
To get this work moving, GPEC has created a short survey to determine the following:
- Which organizations are interested in partnering with non-SDP schools this summer to do some combination of academic support and enrichment programming?
- How can providers and non-SDP schools leverage their respective resources (i.e. space, funding, connections to families, etc.) to do more for children this summer?
- What challenges or barriers remain for your organization to serve children this summer?
So please take 5-10 minutes to complete this survey by Friday, April 30th and include your contact information so that you can be invited to future discussions on this topic. Thank you for your time!
