Connecting Your Community to Financial Education: An Introduction to the Connecticut Money School Web Seminar, 10:00AM EDT, Wednesday, October 14th

In April 2009, the Connecticut Association for Human Services (CAHS) and five nonprofit partners launched the first statewide free financial education initiative for adults in Connecticut.  Since then, we have set up over 100 courses and provided financial education for over 300 Connecticut residents.

The goal of the Connecticut Money School (CMS) is to provide low-income adults and seniors with free quality financial education in a location that is easily accessible.  We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to become financially stable and successful and that one way to achieve financial stability is through a better understanding of how to manage money and assets.

What the webinar will cover:
– What is the Connecticut Money School?
– What do the volunteer instructors teach?
– Who is eligible to attend a class?
– How do I host a class in my community?
– How do I refer my clients to a class in my community?
– What are the benefits of offering financial education?

Who should attend?
Anyone who has clients who struggle with day-to-day expenses, savings, debt, or credit issues.  Social social service agencies who would like to host a course or be able to refer their clients to the Connecticut Money School.  Anyone who is interested in learning how to structure a large scale financial education program.

Guest panelists will include:  Ellen Carter, CAHS Financial Education Program Coordinator; A CMS instructor; a regional partner from the CMS.
