Professional Learning Opportunity for Educators: Instructional Rounds – Mar 18
Posted by Philadelphia Education Fund on March 9, 2021
Instructional Rounds is a FREE and exciting professional learning opportunity for secondary and postsecondary educators who have an interest in aligning teaching and learning across these spaces. This year’s Instructional Rounds will focus on knowledge construction in the virtual classroom at both the high school and college level.
Instructional Rounds, inspired by the concept of ‘rounds’ in the medical field, is designed to break down isolation between educators within and across the secondary and postsecondary levels, providing a vehicle for educators to work together to align and refine pedagogy and practice.
An overview of the Philadelphia Education Fund’s previous Instructional Rounds can be found here.
How It Works:
- A problem of practice, or specific problem of instructional improvement, is identified as the focus of Instructional Rounds;
- Participants divide into small groups and visit classrooms to gather descriptive and reflective (non-evaluative) evidence—writing down what they see and hear as it relates to the problem of practice;
- Participants work through a process of description, analysis and prediction, sharing their observations in groups, building a body of evidence about what they saw going on in classrooms, and identifying practices that produce the learning we hope to see
Logistics: Instructional Rounds will take place from 8:30am-12:15pm on Thursday, March 18th. Participants will be joining KCAPA (Kensington Creative and Performing Arts High School) online classrooms.
Please register for this free event by Friday, March 12.
