Volunteer Opportunities at Long-Term Care Communities
Posted by Conversations to Remember on February 23, 2021
Conversations to Remember is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that matches college students with residents of long-term care, assisted living, and memory care communities for virtual visits. These residents have been suffering over the last year from isolation, and your students could really brighten their days. Our program matches 2-3 students with each resident, and then we facilitate virtual video visits every week between them. Our program differs from others, in that we focus on connecting to individual seniors, rather than groups. Our volunteers develop relationships with them, reminding them that they are still a valuable part of our community. We provide training to the students in the program about the best ways to interact with the residents, as well as additional support when required. These visits are virtual, so your students can do it without any travel. We provide this program free of charge to communities across the country, and have students from around the country as well.
