Asset based community building is an approach to community development that utilizes three principles:
# 1: Communities are built on their strengths, assets or gifts, not on their needs or deficits.
# 2: Communities are built from the inside out .
# 3: The process of community building is driven by the relationships and connections between individuals, groups, associations and organizations.
You can utilize these principles to mobilize the caring in your community and integrate your agency, association or a self advocate into that community. Asset based community building is a perspective that helps you discover the hidden treasures in your midst and use them to realize dreams.
