Imagining America has released a special issue of Public: A Journal of Imagining America on “Beyond Mass Incarceration: New Horizons of Liberation and Freedom.” This issue features a letter by editor Ofelia Ortiz Cuevas in which she tells a story about asking her race and prison class to reimagine reallocating funds from the California prison system to practices that would make communities feel safe and secure.
