American Honda Foundation Invites Applications for Youth Education Projects
The American Honda Foundation was established by American Honda Motor Co. to commemorate its twenty-fifth anniversary in the United States, to show its appreciation for Americans’ support through the years, and to meet the needs of American society in the areas of youth and scientific education.
To that end, the foundation welcomes proposals that reflect the basic tenets, beliefs, and philosophies of Honda companies, which can be characterized as: imaginative, creative, youthful, forward-thinking, scientific, humanistic, and innovative. The foundation supports youth education, with a specific focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects, as well as projects in the areas of the environment, job training, and literacy. Grants awarded by the foundation will range between $20,000 and $75,000 over a one-year period. The foundation defines “youth” as prenatal through 21 years of age, and the term “scientific education” as encompassing the physical and life sciences, mathematics, and the environmental sciences.
Eligible organizations include any nonprofit organization defined as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; public school districts; and private/public elementary and secondary schools listed with the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
See the American Honda Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
