Program Coordinator, Delaware Valley Earth Force
Mission: Earth Force engages young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities now and in the future.
Delaware Valley Earth Force has an immediate opening for a Program Coordinator. This is a full-time position and is the perfect opportunity for a person that enjoys working with young people between 5 and 18 years of age, is knowledgeable about environmental issues and values service learning in urban school settings.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for program logistics, implementation and overall support. The primary duties include:
• Scheduling, planning, and leading school site visits and community environmental investigations.
• Maintaining ongoing contact with program participants to keep them motivated and ensure a quality experience for them, this includes site visits, calls and emails.
• Visit Earth Force classrooms to facilitate activities with young people. (ages 5-18).
• Assisting with educator professional development, training and support.
• Cultivate and maintain partner relationships for support-networks that both adults and youth participants can access as part of their Earth Force experience.
• Assisting with planning and coordinating logistics for the annual Youth Summit
• Updating and maintaining the Delaware Valley Earth Force website
• Coordinating the design and printing of a student focused quarterly newsletter
• Assisting classrooms with planning and implementing community-based environmental projects
Qualifications:
• BA or BS degree required, Masters preferred
• Experience as a school teacher, trainer/facilitator, environmental educator
• Experience teaching educators and/or youth about the environment a plus
• Polished presentation and facilitation skills with students and adults
• Understanding OF and experience in local environmental issues, service learning, and/OR urban community issues.
• Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Gmail (Publisher a plus)
Requirements: Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member, be self-motivated, flexible in work schedule (some evening and weekend work required), and have the means and willingness to travel locally. Must provide own transportation for all work-related activity, though mileage will be reimbursed at current federal rate. The majority of travel will occur in the Philadelphia region.
Compensation: This is a salaried position, compensation will be commensurate with experience, excellent benefits included.
