Program Coordinator, Time Out Respite Program
Interested in mobilizing college students to provide in home respite to caregivers of the frail elderly? The Time Out Respite Program is an innovative, intergenerational respite program that trains students to provide in home companionship and supervision to the elderly. This nationally recognized program is designed to reduce caregiver stress, reduce the isolation of the elderly and provide students with experience in geriatrics. The Time Out Program is coordinated by Temple University’s Intergenerational Center, a national leader in strengthening communities by bringing generations together to meet the needs of individuals and families throughout the life cycle (http://www.templecil.org)
The Program Coordinator will report to the Program Director.
Major responsibilities include:
• Recruiting, training, and supervising students
• Conducting phone assessments of service requests
• Matching students with prospective families through home visits
• Providing care management and communication/support to students and families
• Administering evaluation surveys to families and students
Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, or related fields and have a minimum of three years experience. Candidates must have a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
