Inspired to Serve is LIVE! Learn more about our report to Congress
Posted by National Commission on Military National and Public Service on March 31, 2020
On March 25, 2020, the National Commission on Military, National and Public Service released its final report to the Congress, President, and and the American Public.
For the first time in American history, a Commission was tasked with holistically reviewing the Selective Service System, along with military, national, and public service. After two-and-a-half years of extensive research, public hearings, and conversations with Americans across the country, our final report, Inspired to Serve is LIVE: https://inspire2serve.gov/reports.
Throughout our work, we saw firsthand how America’s extraordinary and longstanding spirit of service continues to shape the life of our Nation. Americans repeatedly step up in support of each other, offering their time, sweat and ingenuity when needed—without expectation of anything in return. So much has been accomplished thanks to this spirit of service; yet as a Nation, the United States has not unlocked the full, transformational potential of service in all its forms.
Our report offers a bold vision and comprehensive plan to strengthen all forms of service to address critical security and domestic needs, invigorate civil society, and strengthen our democracy. Our recommendations address civic education, the federal workforce, national service programs, military service and the selective service system.
