Agency Description

The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Adult Education (OAE) resides within the Office of Workforce Development (OWD).  OWD was launched in March 2018 to foster systemic solutions to employers’ human capital challenges and strengthen Philadelphia’s career pathway ecosystem. The Office of Workforce Development is responsible for implementation of Fueling Philadelphia’s Talent Engine (FPTE), a citywide workforce development strategy aimed at addressing employers’ talent needs and preparing residents for careers in family-sustaining jobs.

The Office of Adult Education (OAE) is a division of the Office of Workforce Development. OAE’s focus is to equip all adults in Philadelphia with the education they need for work, family, and civic engagement. OAE also works on the behalf of 80+ adult literacy and workforce development programs to help the estimated 550,000 adults in the City who need to develop their workforce literacy and digital literacy skills to compete in our knowledge-based economy, complete secondary education, or prepare to participate in post-secondary programs.

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with government and non-profit agencies to further our city’s education, digital inclusion and workforce agendas. This position is a leadership role that will shape policy related to digital access, literacy and equity in Philadelphia, and execute strategic priorities for OAE programs, including myPLACEsm and KEYSPOT. The Director will establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners. This position will report to the Senior Director of OAE.
