Webinar: Decision-Making for Impact: How to Make Smarter Choices in Service of Your Mission, Feb 12
Posted by Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR) on January 21, 2020
As a leader, you make a tremendous number of decisions every day. But how many of these decisions are made with the appropriate degree of thought and reflection? Research on human judgment and cognition tells us that the answer is usually “not much.” In this program, we will explore practices from management science including decision analysis and forecasting skills training that have demonstrated success in helping to equip leaders with practical and essential decision-making tools. We will also discuss common cognitive biases that affect judgment in social organizational contexts.
In this 90 minute SSIR Live! program we will explore:
- How to evaluate the quality of a decision, and why you can’t judge decisions by their outcomes
- Why being skilled at forecasting is more important to smart decision-making than data
- How to design research and evaluation projects that enhances their usefulness for decision-making
- How to create your own step-by-step method for making any decision thoughtfully
Date and Time: February 12, 2020, 2 PM
