The number of veterans using military education benefits in Florida has more than tripled since 2000. How can Florida colleges and universities serve those who have served our country in their transition to the civilian workplace? On this webinar, Kenneth Nahrwold, veteran support coordinator, and Shaina Gonzales, academic enhancement program coordinator with University of South Florida’s Office of Veteran Success will share the comprehensive supports they offer that have earn USF national recognition as one of the top universities for veteran student success. In this webinar you will learn about: • Examples of the comprehensive supports USF offers including transitioning to campus life through a specially designed Veteran Success Course, the Veterans Academic Commons, a dedicated study lounge where veterans can network with their peers, and Career Prep that includes a Veteran Mentoring Program and a veteran’s job search course. • The Got Your 6 training they offer faculty and staff to better support veteran students across the campus. • How your college or university can take steps to make your institution welcoming to veteran students.
