Volunteer/Mentor at the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center
Posted by American Helicopter Museum and Education Center on September 10, 2019
The American Helicopter Museum & Education Center (AHMEC) conducts several programs for boys and girls in elementary, middle, and high school. Our “signature” program is Girls in Science & Technology, an innovative ten-week, hands-on science program for girls in grades 3 -12. The classes are conducted by female college students majoring in STEM disciplines who are in turn overseen and advised by scientists drawn from academe and the corporate world.
We are currently looking for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in STEM disciplines to join our team. Click here for more information. Click here to register as a volunteer. This is a paid position.
We also conduct workshops in chemistry, astronomy, robotics, and coding for girls and boys ages 7 -12. We are looking to hire or recruit volunteers who can conduct these workshops. The ideal would be someone who would work as a contractor – help us develop the curriculum and then conduct the workshops. We do each workshop approximately 5 times/year, so this has the chance of being a decent “side hustle” for the right person. If you know of any students (or colleagues!) who might be interested, please contact Contact JoEllen McBride (jmcbride@americanhelicopter.museum) or Paul Kahan (pkahan@americanhelicopter.museum).
Lastly, we are starting Science Saturdays at the Museum. If you have any students or colleagues with fun, engaging science demonstrations geared for the public, we’d love to have them come perform at the Museum. A link to Science Saturday signups can be found here.
