The Ethics of Voluntourism and the Purpose of Travel

Do you have students who are traveling this summer? Prime them to think about the ethics and opportunities of travel with these activity ideas.
In this lesson, students read a solutions journalism story that explains the problems with volunteer travel and offers positive alternatives. After considering the story’s arguments, students develop their own opinion pieces on the purpose and ethics of travel.
