The majority of students who start at a community college enter with the intent to complete their bachelor’s degree. This means they plan to transfer. Yet only a mere 17% of students earn a bachelor’s degree within six years of transferring. What’s going wrong? Join Sandy Jimenez, assistant director of training, and Juliet Gomez, senior trainer and college access counselor, from the Options Center in New York, as they discuss some effective practices around supporting transfer students. Goddard Riverside’s Options Center is a community-based college access and success program founded in 1985, supporting students with getting into, paying for, and graduating from college.
