President & CEO, Philadelphia OIC

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The President & CEO will oversee direct reports and other staff, interns and volunteers. During fund raising efforts, he/she/they will spend a majority of her/his/their time leading Philadelphia OIC into its next phase of growth through developing and cultivating funds that sustain the organization’s operations as well as completes the remaining planned capital renovations.
Leadership: With Philadelphia OIC’s values in mind, the President & CEO leads the organization in the implementation of the mission, vision, financial goals and overall strategic plan.
· Work with direct reports to establish and implement short and long-term organizational goals.
· Develop partnerships/programming with peer organizations to increase Philadelphia OIC’s brand positioning, regional and national impact.
· Build strong relationships and engage with constituents including local, state and federal government, corporate partners, and volunteers.
· Expand upon strong connections with communities and organizations surrounding Philadelphia OIC’s neighborhood.
· Advocate for Philadelphia OIC’s mission, deepen the thought leadership around the benefits of play, and raise the organization’s profile locally and nationally.
· Work with the Board to develop strategic plans and facilitate the implementation of operational tactics.
· Represent Philadelphia OIC at major public events, community meetings, etc.
· Establish programs that support and extend Philadelphia OIC’s community mission and goals.
Resource Development: The President & CEO leads, develops and oversees all fundraising activities and income-earning programs that bring money into the organization.
Fundraising
· Oversee fundraising event(s).
· Lead and provide guidance for Development staff efforts to raise operating and programmatic funds from individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
· Work with staff to increase earned income opportunities.
· Cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective major donors including major corporate gifts and sponsorships.
· Seek and maintain government funding.
· Explore, apply for, and maintain appropriate grants that support the mission and goals.
Capital and Operational Campaigns
· Work closely with consultants to identify and cultivate capital and operational campaign donors.
· Cultivate and steward prospects and donors through individual meetings and events.
· Engage board members in campaign activities and report on progress for board members, donors, and stakeholders.
· Meet annual campaign gift goals to complete current capital and operational campaign by 2020 YE.
Programming: The President & CEO oversees the programmatic vision for the organization and ensures excellent on and off site operations and programming.
· Provide vision and guidance around creating innovative programming.
· Assess community needs for programming.
· Analyze current programs for expansion and enhancement opportunities.
· Provide guidance and support to staff in making best use of facilities and equipment to meet user needs.
· Manage a large cohort of volunteers including recruitment and engagement.
· Provide oversight of Philadelphia OIC’s media and marketing communications.
Human Resources, Operational (Administrative) and Financial Management: The President & CEO oversees the hiring, training and professional development, annual performance reviews, compensation and termination of staff. S/he/they manages/manage the day-to-day administrative and financial operations.
Human Resources
· Inspire staff and volunteers to exemplify and champion Philadelphia OIC’s mission and values.
· Support staff development, accountability, innovation and a spirit of collaboration.
· Lead staff-wide process to create annual work plans and implements intentional staff succession planning.
· Develop and conduct annual performance reviews of all direct reports and ensure reviews of the staff.
· Manage risk all HR processes, including insurance.
Operational (Administrative) and Financial
· Track progress toward programmatic and financial goals on a dashboard for internal assessment and external (and board) reporting.
· Develop annual and capital budgets with the Finance Director and Board Treasurer.
· Delegate, review, and approve accounting transactions, including vendor payments, payroll, and deposits
· Work with the Finance Director and Board Treasurer, consultants/accountants to provide timely and accurate financial reports and work with the auditor to complete the annual audit for the Board.
· Ensure that Philadelphia OIC complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Fulfill all administrative and reporting expectations, including but not limited to IRS and PA reporting.
· Manage capital improvement program including managing contracts, funding, reporting, contractor and consultant oversight.
· Lead and direct oversight of property and land management.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal President & CEO candidate will:
· Demonstrate an interest in working with/for the benefactors/stakeholders of Philadelphia and surrounding communities in furtherance of the mission, vision and values of Philadelphia OIC.
· Be curious, brings people together, relies on the expertise of others and builds teams who are all a part of the program’s success.
· Be a strong communicator who is a credible external spokesperson for the organization.
· Demonstrate the ability to work authentically and successfully in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
· Be a hands-on leader, who is detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage people, multiple projects and tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required:
· 7 plus years in senior management and leadership role
· The highest integrity and character due to the high visibility and responsibility associated with this organization and this position.
· Understanding of diverse communities; a confident, respected leader, and proven people manager who can gain the confidence of the Board of Philadelphia OIC, Inc., its employees, and key stakeholders.
· Strong development and fundraising skills including donor cultivation and stewardship, grant development, planned giving, major gifts and both capital and operating campaign experience
· Existing relationships with key and influential philanthropic decision makers
· Demonstrated ability to manage and grow programmatic activity and take organization to the next level.
· Demonstrated track record of working effectively with a Board of Directors, maximizing participation and effectiveness.
· Proven exemplary financial management skills.
· Comfortable wearing many hats and desiring to learn all aspects of the business.
Preferred:
· Masters Degree in related field
· Relevant work or community experience leading an organization in a executive or leadership role
· Current or previous experience serving on a non-profit Board.
· Possess functional knowledge of workforce development
General:
· Strong relationships within the Hospitality industry is a plus.
· Requires successfully passing PA State Police Criminal Background Check and PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
