New Earth Foundation Invites Applications Earth-Sustaining Projects
The New Earth Foundation was founded in 1997 by John Bigelow Loveland, who upon receiving a family inheritance dating back to his great-grandfather, a self-made magnate in nickel mining, decided to donate it toward benevolent, peace, and harmony furthering processes.
NEF currently is inviting proposals innovative projects with the potential to enhance life on earth and further peace. The foundation awards grants in support of pioneering yet practical projects in many fields of endeavor, including but not limited to environmental initiatives aimed at eliminating pollution and saving the planet’s ecosystems; community efforts that create models of social sustainability; educational innovations that prepare youth to become socially responsible leaders of the future; and strategies that offer economic improvement and opportunities. NEF is especially interested in projects that can be replicated.
The foundation prioritizes newer, smaller 501(c)(3) organizations for which a grant will make a more significant contribution to its work.
To be eligible, candidates must be tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations also may apply through an umbrella organization or with a fiscal sponsor, though the application must be accompanied by a letter of agreement detailing the project and the nature of the sponsoring organization’s support or involvement.
Letters of inquiry are due July 1. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by October 1, 2019.
