Parents in College: By the Numbers
Posted by Institute for Women's Policy Research on May 21, 2019
The Institute for Women’s Policy Research, in partnership with Ascend at the Aspen Institute, recently authored “Parents in College: By the Numbers,” a fact sheet exploring new research on our nation’s student parent population and includes recommendations for integrating higher education and early education systems to promote student parents’ social and economic mobility. The fact sheet notes, “affordable, quality, child care — which one study found more than tripled their likelihood of on-time graduation — in addition to supports like coaching, affordable family housing, emergency financial aid, mentoring and peer support, and physical and mental health care, would improve postsecondary success and economic security across generations.”
