ABOUT GESU
Gesu School is an independent Catholic elementary school serving 460 neighborhood children in North Philadelphia. A former parish school, Gesu became independent 17 years ago and is often cited as a national model for excellent inner-city education. A Jesuit and IHM school, Gesu is served by an exceptional 58 member inter-faith Board of Trustees.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Gesu seeks an experienced, energetic and detail oriented development professional with excellent communication and project management skills to join its accomplished fund raising team.
The Development Associate will hold a key position within the Gesu School Development Office, which is charged with raising 83% of the school’s $4M plus annual operating budget. S/He will operate in a collaborative setting, where innovation is encouraged.
Essential responsibilities include the following:
• Administer Gesu’s Sponsor A Child program in collaboration with the President and Director Development.. The Development Associate will work with Trustees, donors and staff members to begin to implement Gesu’s ultimate goal of sponsorship for every qualified child.
• Assist colleagues with annual fund activities, special events (annual Symposium on Inner-City Education and Gala), capital campaigns, and other administration and/or development office projects as needed.
• Assist the Development Director with foundation and corporate relations, especially proposal writing and reporting.
