Virtual Symposium: Policy Change and System Change Process, Part 1 Analysis, April 16

POLICY MAKING AND SYSTEM CHANGE PROCESS is a three-part series designed to strengthen and develop individual and organizational skills and competencies to formulate, shape, and influence public policy and/or create system change. Participants will (a) analyze the structural, social, and policy issues that have galvanized advocacy efforts and (b) explore the roles that the government, private sector, and consumers and advocacy groups play in setting policy agendas and examine the intended and unintended effects of these policies.

POLICY MAKING AND SYSTEM CHANGE PROCESS provides participants with the essential competencies and tools to create, lead, and influence system and policy change.  This three-part symposium is designed for those who have a deep interest beyond their social impact work to influence policy and/or systems at the intersection of government, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

As a practical application to the training participants will be invited to shape and apply the recommended strategies to their respective governments and health systems using TUFH’s content pillars of SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY; POPULATION HEALTH; INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION; and COMMUNITY APPROACHES TO SERVE AND ENGAGE REMOTE AND RURAL; REFUGEE AND MIGRANT; INDIGENOUS; WOMEN; AND ELDERLY POPULATIONS.

POLICY MAKING AND SYSTEM CHANGE PROCESS PART 1 ANALYSIS Objectives:

1. Participants will develop the skills and competencies to analyze the feasibility of a policy or system change.
2. Participants will develop the knowledge and competencies to clearly define and articulate the needed policy or system change and develop concrete goals.
