Webinar: Getting Serious about Cyber Security, May 8
Posted by LaSalle Nonprofit Center on April 2, 2019
There are reported cases of even small nonprofits having data stolen from their servers and held for ransom. As a sector, we rely upon public confidence and donor trust, which means a cyber security breach could be fatal, especially for small organizations. Would your organization and its reputation be able to survive such an attack?
Given the limited resources of most nonprofits, cyber security may not be a priority, which makes us easy targets. If you handle any sensitive data such as client records, employee information (social security numbers, driver’s licenses), donor records, process donations (credit cards) or event registrations online, have confidential emails or other sensitive information and transactions, you need to take steps to protect your organization, its stakeholders and its integrity.
How do you maintain cyber security while still being transparent and accessible to your supporters and community? Do you need cyber liability insurance? Are board members liable?
There are a lot of provocative questions posed here, but we’re not going to leave you wondering. That’s why we’ve asked Kreischer Miller, a leading independent accounting, tax, and advisory firm serving the Greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley regions, to share what nonprofits need to know about cyber security with a webinar on May 8, 2019, noon to 1 PM. With its strong connections to the community and the nonprofits that serve it, KM recognizes that cyber security is as big a threat to these organizations as is fraud and theft, and works with its clients on cyber readiness, before a breach occurs.
