NFWF Accepting Applications for Delaware River Program
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is accepting proposals for the conservation and restoration of wildlife habitat and water quality in the Delaware River watershed.
Through its Delaware River Program, NFWF will award matching grants of up to $500,000 to projects that preserve and restore water quality and wildlife habitat on both public and private lands in the watershed, as well as projects that benefit Delaware River communities.
The foundation has identified two distinct grant opportunities under this program.
Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund Conservation Action Grants — Awards will be given to collaborative projects that sustain and enhance wildlife and fish habitat; improve and maintain water quality to support fish, wildlife, and people; sustain and enhance water management to the benefit of fish and wildlife; and/or improve ecologically-friendly public access and outdoor recreational opportunities.
Delaware River Restoration Fund Targeted Implementation and Cornerstone Grants — Awards will be given to projects dedicated to improving water quality through conservation efforts on working lands such as farms and forests; restoring streams, floodplains, and wetlands; and/or improving green stormwater infrastructure in urban/suburban landscapes within one or more of seven Delaware River watershed restoration or hybrid “clusters,” including: the Poconos and Kittatinny, Kirkwood-Cohansey, New Jersey Highlands, Middle Schuylkill, Schuylkill Highlands, Brandywine-Christina, and Upstream Suburban Philadelphia. A number of cornerstone grants also will be awarded to projects that address multiple DRRF priorities, exhibit exceptional strategic planning, and include collaborative opportunities to deliver a large project (or suite of projects) within one of the seven hybrid clusters.
Eligible candidates include organizations that are tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, local and municipal governments, Native American tribes, and educational institutions. Federal, state, and interstate governments also are eligible. Although organizations located outside the Delaware River watershed may apply, projects must be implemented entirely within the boundaries of the watershed.
See the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
Deadline: April 11, 2019
