Learn Philly Heritage website for teachers and families
Posted by Global Philadelphia Association on February 12, 2019
Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) has launched a new online resource center that provides low-cost and free educational resources on Philadelphia’s heritage: http://www.LearnPhillyHeritage.org.
This website connects teachers and parents with the tools they need to develop students’ awareness of our city’s rich past and global significance. The site includes:
- A searchable listing of education resources
- Philadelphia World Heritage City designation information
- Workshops, programs, and events, as well as professional development opportunities for educators
Additional resources include classroom media materials, field trips, funding opportunities, lesson plans, and study abroad programs.
GPA’s World Heritage Coordinator Melissa Stevens said, “We have learned that many teachers have difficulty finding and accessing resources that are relevant and affordable. LearnPhillyHeritage.org will help make our city’s rich past and global heritage accessible to educators, students, and families.”
This website also provides an opportunity to position Philadelphia on the national and global stage as a city that is truly interested in ensuring that all understand what it means to be a World Heritage City.
