Teen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for paid residencies! Teen Lounge is a free, drop-in afterschool arts program providing young people ages 13-19 with opportunities to meet and collaborate with working Philly artists. We’re looking for applicants excited about collaborating with teen students and centering their experiences, in a relaxed, affirming environment.

Students will be selecting five visiting artists, who are compensated up to $600 for 4 sessions with a supply budget of $150. Additional artists may be considered for 1- or 2-day workshop opportunities.

Your workshop proposal should offer young people an exciting opportunity to be introduced to a medium or explore a theme of relevance to this age group. The workshop must be completed in 8 hours maximum. Previous teaching experience is helpful but certainly not required. Experimental proposals are encouraged!

After submitting a proposal, artists attend a mandatory proposal review fair scheduled for Monday, February 11 to meet Teen Lounge students and present their project ideas — students then vote to select which projects to run in the Spring term.

Workshops will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Up to 15 students attend Teen Lounge daily, from a variety of levels in art making experiences — however, due to the drop-in structure of the program, the class group can vary from session to session. Please keep this in mind when designing your workshop.
