Benefits Access for College Completion in Philadelphia – A Capacity-Building Meeting

The new economics of college have left many of college students short of the resources they need to succeed. Financial aid is but one of several supports we can offer. Public benefits programs are critical, but very few colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area currently offer students the opportunity to sign up for programs like SNAP on campus.
The Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice is therefore pleased to invite you to a special meeting to learn how to offer this support to your students. This informational, capacity-building session is co-hosted by Temple University’s Division of Student Affairs and is part of our effort to help ensure that every Philadelphia college student has the food and housing they need to succeed.
At this meeting participants will learn about why and how providing benefits access on campus supports degree completion. Then they will hear about how Philadelphia offers access to public benefits via BenePhilly and the Benefits Data Trust. Finally, participants will learn how to help students access SNAP (food stamps).
