Request For Proposals – Teen Lounge

Teen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for paid residencies! Teen Lounge is a free, drop-in afterschool arts program providing young people ages 13-19 with opportunities to meet and collaborate with working Philly artists. Participating teens evaluate proposals submitted by teaching artists through the RFP (Request for Proposals) process.

The submission deadline is Monday, November 26 for projects in January-February 2019. Students will be selecting roughly four visiting artists, who are compensated up to $600 for 4 sessions with a supply budget of $150. Additional artists may be considered for 1- or 2-day workshop opportunities. After submitting a proposal, artists attend a mandatory proposal review fair tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 4 to meet Teen Lounge students and present their project ideas — students then vote to select which projects to run in the Winter term.

Your workshop proposal should offer young people an exciting opportunity to be introduced to a medium or explore a theme of relevance to this age group. The workshop must be completed in 8 hours maximum. Previous teaching experience is very helpful but not required. Experimental proposals are encouraged!

Workshops will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Up to 15 students attend Teen Lounge daily, from a variety of levels in art making experiences — however, due to the drop-in structure of the program, the class group can vary from session to session. Please keep this in mind when designing your workshop.
