Audioconference to Highlight School Readiness Strategies that Strive to Reach All Young Children
Municipal officials and other community leaders are invited to register for a free, hour-long YEF Institute audioconference on “Promoting School Readiness: The Challenge of Reaching ALL Children,” which will take place Thursday, June 25, at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The call will focus on city efforts to support early learning, not only among children in institutional care settings, but also among children who receive care in more informal settings from relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Speakers on this audioconference will discuss implementation of state policies at the local level, strategies to reach families of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, and options for funding school readiness initiatives. The call’s speakers will include:
* Miriam Long, deputy mayor for education, youth and families, City of Los Angeles, Calif.;
* Betty Emarita, strategic management consultant and president, Development and Training Resources, Minneapolis, Minn.; and
* Amy O’Leary, director, Massachusetts Early Education for All Campaign, Boston, Mass.
Register online by Tues., June 23; no phone registrations can be accepted. One day prior to the event, each registrant will receive an e-mail providing the toll-free, dial-in number to use in joining the audioconference.
