Mark your calendar for a public lecture with Colson Whitehead, author of the award-winning book The Underground Railroad at Rutgers University-Camden.

Wednesday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
Walter K. Gordon Theater on the Rutgers–Camden campus

Following the story of Cora and Caesar, The Underground Railroad explores the saga of our nation, from the brutal abduction of Africans to the unfulfilled promises of the present day. The Underground Railroad is both the gripping tale of one woman’s will to escape the horrors of bondage and a powerful meditation on the history we all share.

This lecture is part of the Rutgers Reads program for incoming Rutgers University–Camden students enrolled in a writing program course. Beyond choosing The Underground Railroad as required summer reading, the program seeks to expand the impact of a common book by linking it to wider cultural conversations across campus and beyond.
