PROJECT MANAGER
The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia is seeking a highly-motivated, team-oriented professional to fill the role of Project Manager. Ideal candidates will combine expertise in economic development, policy analysis, or city and regional planning with experience in in-depth research, quantitative analysis, stakeholder engagement, and project management. Project Managers are key members of the Economy League staff. They report to the Managing Director, Projects & Operations, and manage research projects and strategic initiatives focused on business growth, education & talent development, and infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Managers are responsible for the development and delivery of Economy League analysis. Essential duties include:

  • performing qualitative analysis through in-depth online research, literature review, stakeholder interviews, surveys, focus groups, and other investigative instruments as needed;
  • researching, procuring, and analyzing large and small public and proprietary datasets to generate insight for Economy League projects and initiatives;
  • translating research findings into accessible and insightful content for Economy League partners and stakeholders;
  • developing and managing stakeholder engagement activities including working groups, committees, and public events;
  • serving as primary Economy League contact for partners to ensure that projects are on track, on time, and on budget;
  • working with Economy League senior management and board members to identify grant opportunities and write grant applications to fund new research and to translate existing research into actionable programs and policies;
  • recruiting, hiring, and overseeing project interns and fellows
  • supporting administrative, communications, development, and general office operations as needed.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have a master’s degree in public administration, economics, city and regional planning, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in one of these fields plus three to five years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should also possess the following skills and qualities:

  • familiarity with current public policy and economic development issues;
  • demonstrated ability to generate compelling insights through in-depth research into complex economic development, public policy, and related issues;
  • demonstrated proficiency and experience performing quantitative analysis on large and small datasets, including data from federal sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS);
  • exceptional technical and compositional writing skills;
  • strong public speaking skills;
  • exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • creativity, self-motivation, and attention to detail;
  • ability to manage multiple projects at once;
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a project team;
  • strong interpersonal skills, curiosity and a sense of humor;
  • a passion for the Philadelphia area;
  • experience with GIS, MS Access or other relational databases, and statistical software programs (SPSS, SAS, R) is a plus
  • design skills (MS PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite) and coding skills (R, Python, C++) are a plus
