Foundational Elements for Post-Secondary Bridging
Posted by Philadelphia Youth Network on June 4, 2018
Foundational Elements for Post-Secondary Bridging: Create your community’s mix serves as a guide that practitioners may use in the implementation or enhancement of their own post-secondary bridging program.
In an effort to dramatically enhance post-secondary success for Philadelphia’s opportunity youth, PYN designed a pilot program where students were matched with college and career success coaches, worked on college knowledge and success strategies and received support while bridging to their first college course. The pilot was powered by The Aspen Institute’s Social Innovation Fund (SIF) and Jobs for the Future with local and national grant matches. This pilot program is now being implemented in E3 Power Centers in Philadelphia. The promising practices and lessons learned from the pilot program are shared in this handbook, so that other communities can leverage their resources and knowledge to truly make an impact.
