Vol. 29.2: The Urban Advantage: The 2017 CUMU Annual Conference Issue

Dear Readers,Urban and metropolitan areas face unique challenges in serving the multifaceted needs of their communities, but also have advantages that create some of the world’s greatest universities. These urban advantages were the focus of the 23rd Annual CUMU Conference held in Denver, Colorado in October 2017.

Issue 29.2 ‘The Urban Advantage: Denver Conference Issue’ includes articles based on speeches and presentations from the 2017 conference. These articles highlight how the urban advantage is being harnessed across the CUMU membership to create better opportunities for experiential learning, research and development, creative activity, and partnerships that create immediate and substantive impact on communities.

I would like to thank Dr. Vicki L. Golich, Provost and Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs at Metropolitan State University of Denver, for her tireless work serving as guest editor for this issue.

Sincerely,
Valerie Holton, PhD, LCSW
