SNAP benefits now available to community college students

Starting March 2018, most low-income community college students can get SNAP benefits (food stamps).

Until now, most students could only get SNAP if they are working 20 hours a week, receive work study, have young children, or have health problems.
Because of a new policy, now Pennsylvania’s community college students who are in programs that will improve their employability can also qualify for SNAP.
SNAP provides up to $192 a month in benefits to buy food at grocery stores. You can apply online. You will need to submit a form, completed by an official at your college.
