The mission of the Project HOME community is to empower adults, children, and families to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, to alleviate the underlying causes of poverty, and to enable all of us to attain our fullest potential as individuals and as members of the broader society. We strive to create a safe and respectful environment where we support each other in our struggles for self-esteem, recovery, and the confidence to move toward self-actualization. Project HOME achieves its mission through a continuum of services comprised of street outreach, a range of supportive housing, and comprehensive services. We address the root causes of homelessness through neighborhood-based affordable housing, economic development, and environmental enhancement programs, as well as through providing access to employment opportunities; adult and youth education; and health care.
Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Communications, the Director of Individual Giving is responsible for overseeing all solicitations to individuals; managing a portfolio of major donors and prospects as well as cultivation of new donors and donor relations. The Director will supervise the Manager of Annual Giving and Special Events with the focus of building and strengthening individual donor relationships with the Project HOME community. The Director will develop stewardship and solicitation strategies, oversee the creation and production of development communication materials and provide leadership for major donor recognition and fundraising events.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible, successful major gift fundraising experience within a nonprofit organization, capital campaign experience is preferred. The Director will have demonstrated success in achieving fundraising goals and a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting, and securing major gifts. The successful candidate must possess the ability to lead, take initiative, and work collaboratively as a member of a team. She/he will be committed to work within a diverse community that expects collegiality and open communication. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while building, fostering and maintaining relationships with both internal and external constituencies. Must have strong organizational abilities and proven experience developing and managing budgets. Outstanding communication skills are essential with the ability to express orally and in writing Project HOME’s mission and fundraising goals with clarity, passion and persuasion. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
