Housing instability negatively affects the health of children and caregivers

One in three low-income renters face housing instability, placing them at greater risk of poor health and other hardships, according to new research out of Boston Medical Center, published in Pediatrics. The study surveyed 22,000 families at urban medical centers in Baltimore, MD, Minneapolis, MN, Boston, MA, Little Rock, AR, and Philadelphia, PA. The researchers defined housing instability as being behind on rent or moving more than twice in the past year, and/or experiencing homelessness. The results could provide additional screening questions for healthcare providers, to better flag and address the needs of families with housing instability. Full story here
