“Learning Time in Pursuit of Educational Equity” is a collection of papers and essays looks beyond traditional notions of “schooling” to embrace more and better learning times for youth living in neighborhoods with concentrated poverty. The book was inspired by multi-year, multi-site initiatives at the Ford and the James Irvine Foundations. Of particular interest to the readers of Partnership Press will be the multiple descriptions of and references to community schools, including the chapter by Kendra Fehrer and Jacob Leos-Urbel devoted to the district-wide initiative in Oakland, CA.
