State Policy Toolkit: Establish a Higher Education Funding Strategy
Last week, the National College Access Network (NCAN) released the second component of their State Policy Toolkit. The five-part toolkit reflects the priorities outlined in NCAN’s Model State Policy Agenda, and aims to provide NCAN members and partners, particularly those in networks or coalitions, with resources to advance their own state policy agenda.
The latest installment, “Establish a State Higher Education Funding Strategy,” outlines effective state higher education funding strategies by highlighting examples of high-impact policies already in place and providing resources to better understand your state’s higher education finance system. NCAN’s stance is that – given that state funding for higher education is still recovering from cuts made during the Great Recession – states should develop a predictable, transparent higher education appropriations process.
