Admissions Manager, Year Up Wilmington

The Admissions Manager (Wilmington, DE) reports directly to Associate Director of Admissions and will ensure consistent improvement of the admissions and enrollment processes. The Admissions Manager (Wilmington, DE) will be responsible for stewarding a class of qualified students through the Year Up admissions process every six months and will help facilitate smooth transitions in each phase of the application process.

You will participate actively in applications, assessments, selection and database management with a keen eye for opportunities to improve quality and efficiency of the Year Up admissions process through implementation and maintenance of systems. You will leverage superior communication and relationship building skills to connect with potential students, collaborate with other members of the Admissions team, and manage a small team.
The Admissions Manager (Wilmington, DE) will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
Admissions
- Manage the student admissions process, utilizing existing Year Up guidelines and innovating as necessary to strengthen and streamline that process
- Manage data collection to ensure effective reporting and smooth processes, maintaining all relevant admissions and enrollment records in Salesforce.com
- Conduct one-on-one interviews with prospective students as part of the admissions process, assessing social, emotional, academic, and technological fit with the program
- Facilitate learning assessments and group interviews for all prospective students
- Work closely with Recruitment team to ensure strategic alignment and share pipeline updates
- Foster continuous evaluation and innovation within the admissions process, gathering and applying feedback as necessary to increase efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with Recruitment and Admissions staff from each Year Up site to hone effective tools
- Become an expert of report generation and usage to inform improvement to the admissions process and regularly report on activity
- Manage a small team, support goal-setting, delegating as needed, and assign additional projects as required
- In partnership with the Recruitment Specialist, develop and implement a recruitment plan to effectively build a strong pipeline of prospective students for each class
- Build and maintain relationships with local high schools, community-based organizations and other
groups that work with young adults from a full range of local communities to increase the pipeline of interested qualified candidates - Other duties as assigned
Site Team/Learning Community Member
- Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
- Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings
Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years’ work experience, preferably in admissions, recruitment or another relevant field
- A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work both independently and as a team player; to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects
- A high level of detail-orientation, and an analytical focus on process
- Interest in working in a fast-paced, dynamic, complex start-up and/or entrepreneurial environment
- Demonstrated resourcefulness, including ability to figure out solutions in ambiguous situations
- Experience managing and working with external stakeholders; experience with admissions a plus
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills
- Ability to connect quickly and authentically with people from a variety of different backgrounds
- Ability to handle multiple work priorities with accuracy and attention to detail
- A passion for working with urban young adults, an unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment to the mission of Year Up
