Call for Proposals: Equitable Development Conference

PACDC’s Community Development Leadership Institute is accepting proposals to present at its Equitable Development Conference on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. This full day conference will be held in Center City Philadelphia across from City Hall at the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation (PHMC) and the Temple University Center City Campus.

Entrepreneur and activist Andy Shallal will be the keynote speaker. Founder and owner of the popular Busboys and Poets chain of restaurant/coffee lounges/bookstores that serve as cultural and political neighborhood hubs throughout the Washington DC area, he is a vocal activist for racial and social justice causes. We are in search of innovative, thought-provoking presentations that explore the complex issues facing communities grappling to ensure that the successful growth of our city is not limited to the few or based on zip code. We ask that presentations focus on concrete and effective solutions and pathways that community developers and their partners can realistically implement through the lens of Equitable Development, and engage audience members. We are especially interested in presentations exploring how neighborhood groups— formal and informal— can begin to define what equitable development means for their communities.
