Storytelling: The Secret to College Admissions

Philadelphia College Access and Success Stakeholders are excited to offer a FREE training for college access providers through UBS (United Bank Switzerland) NextGen Leaders.

UBS NextGen Leaders collaborated with Story2 to empower high school/college students to tell their unique stories as they prepare for the college admission process and/or internship and job interviews. Story2 will offer a training for Philadelphia area college access providers and counselors on storytelling skills to help students develop a portfolio of stories they can use to practice interview skills and succeed in their next steps after high school.

The college application essay gives students the opportunity to show to college admission officers who they really are beyond grades and test scores, but this can also be one of the most challenge components of the application. This training will provide insights on how to help students write authentically about real life experiences without sounding cliché. In addition, participants will learn valuable skills to tell their own stories, for grant proposals or speaking to funders that will help to advance their work in college access.

Refreshments will be provided!

Intended Audience: Anyone who works with high schools students in preparation for college/career (nonprofit providers, school counselors, volunteers, etc.)

Secondary Audience: Anyone who wants to learn how to better tell their own story (i.e all of the nonprofit sector)
