PeopleForBikes Accepting LOIs for Community Bike Program

PeopleForBikes aims to make riding better for everyone. By collaborating with millions of individual riders, businesses, community leaders, and elected officials, we are uniting people to create a powerful, united voice for bicycling and its benefits. To that end, the organization has awarded more than three hundred and fifty grants totaling over $3 million to nonprofit organizations and local governments in all fifty states and the District of Columbia since its establishment in 1999.

To advance its mission, PeopleForBikes is accepting Letters of Interest for its Community Grant Program. Through the annual program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded for important and influential projects that leverage federal funding and build momentum for bicycling in communities across the United States. Projects eligible for funding include bike paths and rail trails, as well as mountain bike trails, bike parks, BMX facilities, and large-scale bicycle advocacy initiatives.

To be eligible, applicants must be a nonprofit organization with a focus on bicycling, active transportation, or community development; a city or county agency or department; or a state or federal agency working locally. PeopleForBikes only funds projects in the United States.

The organization will begin accepting Letters of Interest on December 11, 2017. To be considered, LOIs must be received by January 19, 2018. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by April 6, 2018.
